I interviewed Srijan Tiwari who discussed Connect and Collaborate Electronically.
Can you provide a brief background of yourself?
Prior to stepping into the corporate life, I gained one month certification of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) from Godrej. This experience was further fuelled by my work experience of 37 months in TCS where I lead a team of 12 for a pre-sales project. In addition to this, I also gained 13 months of experience in SAP CRM and BODS that expanded my role to customer management, data analysis and migration with many interfaces (vendors), presented solutions to clients by increasing customer efficiency with respective orders for different dealers. I was involved in process improvement activities that gave me substantial experience of working within rigorous deadlines and "soft skills” of leadership, teamwork, ethics and communication. I worked for UK Automobile Client which was spread across geographies. This opportunity inculcated right attitude and skills that are in line with any corporate role.
It has been my dream to be a part of the company where leaders raise the performance bar with every hire and promotion. I got the opportunity as an intern in Dalmia Cement in Guwahati, and they gave me platform to link my experience with the dynamics & intricacies involved in the management of this Cement Industry Giant and gave me an added advantage that would help me to further enhance my cross functional, analytical and interpersonal skills. As an Intern, I got " Leadership award" for driving the Supply Chain Project"
Can you talk about augumented reality in modern logistics?
Augumented reality uses real-time images with information presented to the user. This will eliminate confusion. In many industries they use artificial intelligence and augumented reality. For example, in the warehouse if a user uses the augumented reality then the product is visible. It helps you know where the product is placed. You will also know the exact location of the customer. This is a modern aspect of the supply chain. It will become prevalent in other industries like cement where volume is high and you have smaller skus.
For example, you can use augumented reality to track where a machine is located and the quality of the machine.
If a user uses real-time image information for high volume and small skus it will drastically impact the entire production. It will eliminate confusion and errors because you verify the product visually.
Do you have any final recommendations?
The RFID stickers and automated weigh bridges would
• Deliver the desirable impact by reducing the truck turnaround time and freeing up the precious human resource.
• To provide real-time visibility into the specific location and movement of vehicles.
Like in any commodity Industry, They plans of soon integrating the video analytics solution with RFID and Dispatch Instruction (the repository of details with respect to the product code, packing material, MRP etc.) will further boost efficiency and transparency in the overall logistics system. The integration would be very helpful.
For instance, if we were to dispatch 4000 bags in a particular vehicle, the information from Dispatch Instruction would be passed to the SCADA system. As the SCADA system would be integrated with the bag counting system, it would give a command to the conveyor belt to stop as soon as 4000 bags have been loaded onto a truck.
