The Pirate Bay (the Bit Torrent site that allows free downloads of music/media) just announced it is supporting a new type of file on its BitTorrent site—“physibles.”
TPB uses this term to describe “data objects that are able (and feasible) to become physical.” The Pirate Bay declares that 3D printed objects will be the next frontier of piracy, and experts say that if the technology continues to advance at the same rate, in 10 or 20 years you might be printing a new pair of Nikes in the comfort of your own home.
What do you think? Should manufacturers be concerned about this, or is this technology manufacturers can use to make their own processes more efficient?
