Co-product and By-product Planning, Kinexions '10, Bob May, senior product manager, Kinaxis

Version 1

Co-product and by-product planning is an important consideration in environments where there is variability in the results of the manufacturing process, or where significant scrap is produced from the process. A typical example of co-product planning exists in the semi-conductor industry where the manufacturing process can result in integrated circuits or solar cells that have significantly different performance characteristics. These characteristics often determine what applications the products can be used in.
